CRASH OF A SPITFIRE
AT PEARCE AIRFIELD, WA

RAAF Spitfire A58-162, of 85 Squadron RAAF, piloted by W/O Gray, suffered an engine failure during take-off from Pearce airfield in Western Australia on 14 July 1945. The Spitfire tipped over on its nose. The aircraft was not badly damaged and the pilot was uninjured.
