Crash of an Avro Anson into the sea 1.5 miles off Bargara, near Bundaberg, Queensland on 1 June 1942

CRASH OF AN AVRO ANSON
INTO SEA 1.5 MILES OFF BARGARA,
NEAR BUNDABERG, QLD
ON 1 JUNE 1942

On 1 June 1942, Avro Anson AW 902 from 8 Service Flying Training School (8 SFTS) at Bundaberg crashed into the sea at approximately 1142 hours about 1.5 miles off Bargara which is on the coast near Bundaberg. The aircraft wreckage was discovered in 32 ft of water, about 1.5miles offshore.

Plaque that was consecrated on Anzac Day 2007 to commemorate the tragic deaths of
these airmen. The plaque is located on the beach at Bargara near where the aircraft crashed.
