The Queensland Maritime Museum is located at the old South Brisbane Dry Dock (Graving Dock) on the Brisbane River slightly downstream from South Bank Parklands. It is at the southern end of the new pedestrian bridge.
The South Brisbane Dry Dock was used extensively during World War 2.

The Queensland Maritime Museum is the home of the HMAS Diamantina and the tug HMAS Forceful.
Another WW2 vessel located at the Museum is the pearling lugger "Penguin" which was used by the Americans during WW2.
The dinghy from General Douglas MacArthur's motor Yacht "Shangri-La" is also located in the Museum.
There was a concrete bunker built around the dry dock's pump house to protect it from Japanese bombing raids. It still exits today.
