"Kilmory", 6 Wentworth Street, Point Piper, Sydney
"Kilmory", 6 Wentworth Street, Point Piper was commandeered by the military during WW2 from Sir Alexander MacCormick to establish Eastern Area Headquarters.
"Kilmory" was built in 1912 for Sir Alexander MacCormick, who was a surgeon and a member of the Sydney University Medical School. After the war, it became Riverview College and then became a Franciscan Retreat.

"Kilmory", 6 Wentworth Street, Point Piper, Sydney
Eastern Area Headquarters was established at "Kilmory" on 15 May 1942. There were initially 45 officers and 69 other ranks in Eastern Area Headquarters. The function of EAHQ was to "administer all operational units in the area between the Murray River and the Tropic of Capricorn excluding No. 7 Aircraft Depot, Corowa and No. 2 Central Reserve, Albury."
A.C.H. Sydney functioned operationally as of midnight, 25 May 1942.
The Air Officer Commanding for Eastern Area HQ was Air Vice Marshall W.H. Anderson from 16 May 1942. He had been posted form A.F.H.Q. His Personal Assistant was F/Lt R.N. Hammant (2010).
By 31 May 1942 numbers had increased to 72 officers and 183 other ranks.
By 30 June 1942 they had increased again to 115 officers and 375 other ranks. This included 36 VAOC officers, 46 personnel in No. 1 Fighter Sector, and 7 personnel from the Weather Bureau.
