DOVER HEIGHTS ANTI-AIRCRAFT SEARCHLIGHT BATTERY

The men at Dover Heights Anti-aircraft Searchlight Battery lived in tents. Cooking was done in the open on improvised cooking facilities. They took part in air co-op and manning drills on most nights. At the end of the night's training two sentries were posted to guard the equipment.

It was very windy at Dover Heights which was on a high location overlooking the ocean. If the southerly wind wasn't trying to blow them off their location it was the north-easter. Tents had to be well secured to the ground and cooking in the open was quite a challenge.
