POW'S KILLED WHEN JAPANESE TRANSPORT SHIPS
SUNK BY AN AMERICAN SUBMARINE ON 12/13 SEPTEMBER 1944

visits since 16 April 2001

On 12/13 September 1944, an American submarine attacked a Japanese convoy carrying 2,300 POW's that had left Singapore on 6 September 1944. A number of ships including Kachidoki Maru and Rokyu Maru, both carrying POW's, were sunk.

Jim Bostock believes that A/Cpl W.B. Bostock (NX34111) of the 2/19 Inf Bn 2AIF died in this incident. He had been a POW in Singapore.
