WERE THERE SPITFIRE PARTS
BURIED UNDER THE SITE OF
THE BASS HILL DRIVE-IN THEATRE
NEAR BANKSTOWN AIRFIELD, NSW?

There are stories about Spitfire parts buried in crates on the site that is now the Bass Hill Drive-in Theatre, at Johnston Road, Bass Hill, New South Wales less than 4kms from Bankstown aerodrome.
The Bass Hill drive-in theatre was still going strong in November 2005. The land it occupies was rezoned for housing several years ago, but Greater Union intends on running it indefinitely into the future. It is open every night.
There are also rumours of a bunker in Johnston Road, Bass Hill which was somehow connected to 1 Fighter Sector Headquarters Bunker at Bankstown.
Is this just
another one of the many urban myths
about buried aircraft or equipment?
