There was a tunnel from the Caretaker's residence at the Queens Gardens, in Townsville, Queensland that led well away from the grounds towards Castle Hill. In the 1940's a married couple used this tunnel to secretly leave their wedding reception (at the gardens).

The adjacent Queens Park was used as a military camp by the Americans during WW2.
