"Z" Special Unit had nine large Supply Bunkers constructed near their site at Mackenzie's on Fraser Island, in Queensland. The Supply Bunkers are a mixture of 12 inch thick concrete and 12 inch thick timber. Apparently, one of the end bunkers was used to store mustard gas.
Jimmy Chateris, who lived on the mainland at the Diamonds, helped to build these Supply Bunkers. The Army used his property on the mainland as a launch area for their barges.
The Supply Bunkers were apparently a major resupply site for troops, and part of an operation called "MAYROCK", which was meant to mean Maryborough to Ayers Rock.
The Australian Army visited the site in about 1988 to cut off all the lead markers for the Supply Bunkers.
