NEAR TOWNSVILLE IN FEBRUARY 1942

B-17E Flying Fortress, "Globe Trotter", of the 7th Bombardment Group was damaged when it made a forced landing near Townsville in February 1942.  The 7th Bomb Group flew the first bombing missions against Rabaul from north Queensland, staging through Port Moresby.
