CRASH OF A B-26 MARAUDER

visits since 20 September 1998

 

A B-26 Marauder, aircraft #40-1405, "Goosie", of 408th Squadron, 22nd Bombardment Group, landed with its nose wheel up on 20 May 1942.

Location unknown.   Can anyone help me with more information???

Peter,

#40-1405 in the 408th records is listed as returning to Port Moresby from a mission at 1140L on the 13th and "Returned to base.....with slight damage to nose" ny 0925L on the 14th. The next flight to Port Moresby was not until 23 May, on which day they departed from Garbutt.
